EXECUTIONS IN THE TOWER OF LONDON

There were two primary places for execution within the Towers grounds
​
Tower Hill which was a marked place for execution in the Northwest of the the Tower of London. The present day it is notable for being the site of the Tower hill memorial. public executions of high-profile traitors and criminals were often carried out on tower hill

 
Tower Green was  a space within the Tower of London, a royal castle in London, where two English queens consort and several other British nobles were executed by beheading. It was considered more dignified for nobility to be executed away from spectators, and queens Anne Boleyn, Catherine Howard and Lady Jane Grey were among the nobility beheaded here.

  • William Stanley fought in The Wars of The Roses. He is best known for his action at the Battle of Bosworth, where he decisively attacked the Yorkists under Richard III England helping to secure Henry VII victory.

  • Edward was drawn into the (willingly or unwillingly) in a plot to escape with Perkin Warbeck.

  • He is known for allegedly confessing to the murders of the Princes in the Tower under Richard III orders.
  • The Queen consort Elizabeth of York. the sister of Edward V and Richard Duke of York, was present throughout Tyrrell's trial.
  • James was  buried at the church of the Austin Friars, London.

  • 17TH AUGUST EDMUND DUDLEY WAS EXECUTED AFTER BEING CHARGED WITH THE CRIME OF CONSTRUCTIVE TREASON
  • Edmund served as Speaker of the House of Commons and President of the King's Council
  • He was also the grandfather of Robert Dudley, 1st Earl of Leicester, and Guildford Dudley, husband of the nine day Queen the Lady Jane Grey. Edmund was the father of John Dudley Duke of Northumberland.

  • Edward was the 3rd Duke of Buckingham
  • He was the son of Catherine Woodville (sister of Queen consort Elizabeth Woodville) and Henry Stafford.
  • Jasper Tudor whom was uncle to Henry VII of England. was Edward's step-father.
  • Edward had been Lord High Constable 1504–1521
  • He had became suspected of potentially treasonous actions and King  Henry VIII authorised an investigation. The King personally examined witnesses against him, gathering enough evidence for a trial.

  • John was Cardinal and Bishop of Rochester
  • He had been chaplain and confessor to Margaret Beaufort, Countess of Richmond and Derby, mother of King Henry VII of England.
 
  • 6TH JULY SIR THOMAS MORE WAS EXECUTED AFTER REFUSING TO TAKE THE OATH OF SUPREMACY, HE WAS CONVICTED OF TREASON

  • She had also be known as Viscountess Rochford
  • Through the Beaufort family, Jane was a distant cousin of King Henry VIII
  • Jane had been a member of the household of Henry's first wife Katherine of Aragon and went on to be Lady-in-waiting to Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour and Catherine Howard
  • Jane had been the wife of George Boleyn, brother to the late Queen consort Anne Boleyn. George was executed for treason in 1536.
  • Jane became insane during her time of imprisonment, so was condemned to death by an Act of Attainder

  • He was executed for for his role of Lady Jane Grey in the succession crisis of 1553.
  • John was the father of Robert Dudley, the known favourite of Queen Elizabeth 1st England, Also the father of Guildford Dudley the husband to the Lady Jane Grey
     
  • 22ND AUGUST SIR THOMAS PALMER WAS EXECUTED FOR HIGH TREASON
  • Thomas He was a gentleman-usher to King Henry VIII in 1519, and at the Field of the Cloth of Gold in 1520
  • He was was executed for his support of Lady Jane Grey in the succession crisis of 1553.

  • Guildford was the husband of the Lady Jane Grey (Nine Day Queen)
  • John Dudley who had been Lord President of the Council and executed in August 1553 was Guild ford's father,
  • After Guildford and his wife's trial in November 1553, they were condemned to death for high treason Queen Mary I was inclined to spare their lives, but Thomas Wyatt's rebellion against Mary's plans to marry Philip of Spain led to the young couple's execution.

  • Thomas also , participated in the Ridolfi plot with King Philip II of Spain to put Mary on the English throne and restore Catholicism in England that which led to his execution.

  • He had married Elizabeth Barnham, a sister-in-law of the philosopher and scientist Francis Bacon,
  • Mervyn was publicly accused of raping his wife and committing sodomy with two of his servants

  • 12TH MAY THOMAS WENTWORTH FOR IMPEACHED AND CHARGED WITH TREASON.
  • He was the 1st Earl of Strafford, Baron Wentworth, Baron Raby.
  • Thomas was Lord Deputy of Ireland 1633–1640
  • Thomas trial started on March 22nd 1641. Wentworth defended himself with skill and he was found not guilty of treason.
    King Charles 1st of England, had a serious problem with signing Strafford's death warrant as a matter of conscience, especially as he had explicitly promised Stafford that, no matter what happened, he would not die.

  • He had been the 6th Governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony 25th May 1636– 17th May 1637
  • Henry  served on the Council of State that functioned as the government executive during the Interregnum, but split with Cromwell over issues of governance and removed himself from power when Oliver  Cromwell dissolved Parliament in 1653 . He returned to power during the short-lived Commonwealth period in 1659–1660,
  • Henry was arrested when Charles II returned to power.
  • In a court proceeding in which he was denied counsel and the opportunity to properly prepare a defence, he was convicted by a partisan jury.
