  • 12TH JANAURY Thomas acknowledged that he had "concealed high treason, in keeping secret the false acts his son, Henry Howard  Earl of Surrey, in using the arms of St. Edward the Confessor, which pertain only to kings", and offered his lands to the King
  • 19TH JANUARY The execution of Henry Howard, Thomas eldest son.on a charge of treasonable quartering the royal arms.
  • 27TH JANUARY Thomas was attained by statute without trial. The dying King Henry VIII  gave his assent to Thomas death by royal commissioners, and it was rumoured that he would be executed on the following day. Thomas was saved by the King's death on   the 28th January
  • 28TH JANUARY King Henry VIII is now dead and now his son Edward VI is King of all England. Thomas remained in the Tower of London, for throughout Edward VI of England's reign.

  • 1ST OCTOBER Thomas is re-appointed Earl Marshal and given back his title Duke of Norfolk.

  • FEBRUARY Wyatts Rebellion. Which was group of disaffected gentlemen who opposed the Queen's projected marriage to Philip II of Spain. Thomas last major service to the Crown was his command of the forces sent to put down a this rebellion
  • 25TH AUGUST Thomas Howard, died at Kenning-hall aged eighty-one

  • Thomas was descended in the female line from Thomas of Brotherton, 1st Earl of Norfolk, the sixth son of King Edward I of England
 
  • Thomas was an Uncle to two Queen consorts, Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard. Thomas Daughter Mary married Henry Fitzroy, the Illegitimate son of King Henry VIII of England.
 
  • Thomas had quite a big extended family network in the  Royal court.Thomas mother Elizabeth had been married previously, before her marriage with his father. When Thomas mother died, his father re-married and then Thomas had more half-siblings from his father's second marriage.

In 1536, Anne Boleyn and George Boleyn were executed along with another one of his niece's husband Henry Norris, for high treason and adultery with the Queen Anne Boleyn. In 1542, when Queen Catherine's premarital sexual indiscretions and her alleged adultery with Sir Thomas Culpeper were revealed to King Henry VIII by Archbishop Thomas Cranmer, the King's wrath turned on the Howard family, who were accused of concealing her misconduct. Thomas niece Catherine Howard Queen consort of England was executed for high treason. Lord Thomas Howard his half-brother, was another member of his family imprisoned and died in the Tower of London due to an affair with Margaret Douglas, This affair was seen as high treason due to Margaret being in the line of succession at the time for the crown.
