LORD HIGH STEWARD
The position of Lord High Steward is the first of the Great Officers of State in E ngland, ranking above the Lord Chancellor. At coronations of the British monarch, the Lord High Steward bears St Edward's Crown. The Lord High Steward also presides during the trials of peers in the House of Lords.

Thomas was the son of Edmund of Crouch back and was one of the leaders of the baronial opposition to his first cousin, Edward II of England. He despised the royal favourite, Piers Gaveston, He had served in the coronation of his cousin, King Edward II of England carrying Curtana, the sword of Edward the Confessor.

Henry was a grandson of King Henry III and was one of the principals behind the deposition of King Edward II. Henry was later appointed "chief advisor" for the new king Edward III of England] and was also appointed captain-general of all the king's forces in the Scottish Marches

The Lord Great Chamberlain has charge over the Palace of Westminster .
