HAMPTON COURT

HAMPTON COURT IS A ROYAL PALACE, WHICH IS IN THE BOROUGH OF RICHMOND UPON THAMES, LONDON, ENGLAND.
Hampton Court started off as a manor, that was built for the Knights Hospitallers of the saint John Jerusalem in the 13th century. Sometime before 1338, the manor was the central part of a large farm estate, which had been designed to provide money to support crusaders in the holy land. In 1494, one of Henry VII senior courtiers, Giles Daubenay, leased the estate. Then in 1514 cardinal Thomas Wolsey obtained it on a ninety-nine-year lease. Thomas then began transforming it from a private house into a huge palace. The complex building of the palace began in 1515 for cardinal Thomas Wolsey. Thomas was favorite of king Henry VIII of England, however, in 1529, as Wolsey nfrom favour, the king seized the palace for himself and later enlarged it
