THE LION IN THE WINTER
(2003)

The “Lion In The Winter” was a television remake of the 1968 film of the same name. The film was premiered in the UK on 26th December 2003. This historical drama film was based on the Broadway play by James Goldman. The Lion in Winter is set during Christmas 1183, at King Henry II's château and primary residence in Chinon, Anjou, within the Angevin Empire of medieval France. The plot of the film was based around King Henry being near the end of his time, must chose one of his three sons to be his heir. Henry wants his youngest son, the future King John, to inherit his throne, while his estranged and imprisoned wife, Duchess Eleanor of Aquitaine, is temporarily released from prison for the holidays is planning to over throw her husband’s rule .
The film run for 156 minutes. Patrick Stewart not only played the main role, in the film as Henry the II England, but also was an executive producer. The film won The Primetime Emmy Awards of “Outstanding Costumes – Miniseries, Movie, or Special Outstanding Costumes – Miniseries, Movie, or Special”
