Henry Stewart, Lord Darnley, was king consort to Mary Queen of Scots for around nineteen months

Henry and Mary Queen of Scots were first Cousin, sharing the same grandmother Margaret Tudor Queen of Scots. Margaret Douglas, Henry’s Mother was the half-sister to James V of Scotland, Mary Queen of Scots father.

When Henry VIII had his two daughters Margaret and Elizabeth, declared bastards, this meant Margaret Douglas was then placed in the line of succession. However, as part of his will in 1547, Henry discounted his sister Margaret Tudor line, from the Act of Succession.
