• 9TH NOVEMBER: Eleanor’s sister Sanchia of Provence died in Berkhamsted castle, Hertfordshire

•  13TH JULY: Eleanor was was sailing down the Thames when her barge was attacked by citizens of London, Eleanor, hated the Londoners, and they hated her in return. Eleanor she was pelted with stones, loose pieces of paving, dried mud, rotten eggs and vegetables, however rescued by Thomas Fitz Thomas, the mayor of London, who took her to his home for safety

• Eleanor’s uncle Peter II, count of savoy built the savoy palace, which is now present day the savoy hotel

• 23RD JANUARY King Louis IX of France issues the Mise of Amiens, a settlement between King Henry III of England and barons led by Simon de Montfort heavily favouring the former, which leads to the Second Barons' War.

• 16TH NOVEMBER: Eleanor’s husband Henry III of England, is dead, and now her son Edward is king of England

• Eleanor looked after her grandson Henry as he lay dying at Guildford, Eleanor had raised him from the age of two years. When her grandson Henry died in her care in 1274, Eleanor went into mourning and gave orders for his heart to be buried at the priory at Guildford which she founded in his memory
