  • 27TH OCTOBER Catherine of Valois is born, the daughter of Charles VI of France and Isabella of Bavaria at the hotel saint-pol (a royal palace in Paris)

  • Catherine’s younger brother, Charles is born, future Charles VII France
  • Catherine was betrothed to Charles, grandson of Louis, Duke of Bourbon.

  • Catherine and her sister, Marie were sent to Poissy Convent for safety during the fighting between England and France. At the convent they received a basic education.

  • 29TH JUNE Catherine sister, Isabella of Valois married, her cousin Charles, duke of Orléans

  • Henry IV of England suggested, a peace agreement with France that could marry his son, the future Henry V, to one of the daughters of Charles VI of France.

  • JUNE: Catherine’s sister, Michelle of France married Philip III, duke of burgundy
  • 13TH SEPTEMBER: Catherine’s sister, Isabella of Valois died.

  • 20TH MARCH Henry IV England is dead, and Henry V, Catherine’s future husband is now king of England
  • 9TH APRIL: Henry V is crowned king of England. Henry is crowned by Thomas Arundel, Archbishop of Canterbury
  • NOVEMBER Henry V England, suggested a marriage between himself and Catherine. However, the French rejected his dowry demands of the return of Aquitaine and a payment of two million crowns.

  • 21ST MAY The Treaty of Troyes an agreement that king Henry V of England and his heirs would inherit the throne of France upon the death of king Charles vi of France
  • JUNE 2ND: Catherine married Henry V of England in France.

  • Owen Ap Maredudd Ap Tudor, enter the service of Catherine’s husband Henry .
  • 1st FEBRUARY Catherine and  Henry V  traveled to England, arriving at Dover
  • 23RD FEBRUARY Catherine’s coronation as Queen consort of England, Catherine was crowned by Henry Chichele, Archbishop of Canterbury.
  • 6TH DECEMBER: Catherine’s son Henry is born (The future Henry VI England) at Windsor.

  • Catherine, without her son, travelled to France  to join her husband with John, duke of Bedford.
  • 8TH JULY Catherine’s sister, Michelle of France died
  • 31ST AUGUST: King Henry V contracted dysentery and died in Vincennes. His son, Henry, aged 9 months became King Henry VI
  • 21ST OCTOBER: Catherine’s father is dead king Charles VI France and her younger brother Charles VII  is now king
  • 7TH NOVEMBER The Funeral of Henry V of England. Henry was buried in Westminster Abbey, London

  • 3RD JULY Catherine’s nephew, future Louis XI France is born, son of her brother Charles VII France
  • CHRISTMAS Catherine was in Hertford in the company of her good friend James of Scotland.

  • 12TH FEBRUARY Catherine is a witness to the marriage of King James of Scotland and  . John Beaufort was the niece of the late Henry V England.
  • Catherine's dower was settled by an Act of Parliament. The dower was a generous 40,000 crowns, (or 10,000 marks), as part of the Treaty of Troyes it had been arranged that, in the event of Catherine's widowhood, she would receive an annuity of 20,000 crowns.

  • Catherine is believed to have entered a relationship with Edmund Beaufort, 2nd duke of Somerset. Rumours fly around that they planned to marry. Edmund was the late King Henry V,
  • The infant King Henry VI of England, is removed form his mothers care.

  • The infant King Henry VI gifted his mother Catherine with a valuable ruby ring

  • 11TH JUNE Catherine son Edmund Tudor is born at much Hadham palace, Hertfordshire

  • NOVEMBER: Catherine son Jasper Tudor is born. at the bishop of Ely’s manor at Hatfield
  • 16TH DECEMBER The second coronation of Henry VI of England, as King of France. Henry was crowned by Henry Beaufort, Bishop of Winchester.

  • MAY Parliament granted Owen Ap Maredudd Ap Tudor, the rights of an Englishman.
  • Catherine’s son Owen Tudor is born prematurely at Westminster abbey Owen was taken and raised by the monks to become a member of the order, living under the name Edward Bridgewater
  • Owen Tudor was granted the status and rights of an Englishman.

  • 7TH SEPTEMBER Catherine’s sister Joan of France died.

  • Catherine, retired to Bermondsey abbey
  • Owen Tudor was imprisoned now no longer under Queen Dowagers protection.

  • 1ST JANUARY Catherine made her will.
  • 3RD JANUARY Catherine died in London, England.

EXTRA FACTS ON CATHERINE OF VALOIS

  • Catherine of Valois was a French princess who became Queen consort to Henry V of England, for two years.

 

 

  • Catherine was the daughter to king Charles VI of France, and also a younger sister to previous English Queen consort Isabella of Valois. She was the 10th child in her family. Charles' suffered from bouts of insanity and as time progressed, they came on more regular, and lasted of longer duration. During these attacks, he had delusions, believing he was made of glass or denying he had a wife and children.

 

 

  • Catherine was the mother of Henry VI of England and was grandmother to the Future Henry VII of England.

 

  • Due to Rumours of a relationship between the Catherine, Queen dowager and Edmund Beaufort, this led to a statute in parliament forbidding marriage to a queen without royal consentby the king and his council -- without severe punishment. Parliament of 1427–8 passed a bill which set forth the provision that if the queen dowager remarried without the king's consent, her husband would forfeit his lands and possessions, although any children of the marriage would not suffer punishment.

 

  • There is no actual record of when Catherine married Owen Tudor. Owen Tudor was the grandfather of Henry VII of England
