  • John Erskine, is given the charge of caring for Anne’s son Henry Fredrick, as James did not want his son influenced by Anne’s beliefs. this caused enormous tension between Anne and James in their marriage. Anne began an ongoing campaign in order to see her son Henry.

  • 5TH NOVEMBER: The Gun Powder Plot This was  a failed assassination attempt against King James I of England and VI of Scotland by a group of provincial English Catholics led by Robert Catesby.

  • Anne’s brother Christian IV Denmark, visits England giving her a £2,000 diamond in memory of the dog, whose name was jewel.
  • During the State visit of Anne's brother Christian IV Denmark ,there was allot of heavy drinking indulged in by English and Danes alike caused some unfavourable comments: both Christian and James had an ability to consume great amounts of alcohol, while remaining lucid, which most of their courtiers did not share. The entertainment which was intended to crown the visit- a masque of Solomon and the Queen of Sheba- was described by the audience as a drunken fiasco, where most of the players simply fell over from the effects of too much wine.

  • JANUARY: Theodore De Mayerne instructed Anne to saw wood to improve her blood flow, but the exertion served to make her worse.
  • Anne’s son Prince Charles often slept in the adjoining bedroom at Hampton Court Palace and was at her bedside during her last hours, when she had lost her sight.
  • 2ND MARCH: Anne of Denmark died at the age of forty-four of a dangerous form of dropsy, at Hampton Court Palace

  • Anne of Denmark, was Queen consort of James VI Scotland, 1st of England for just under thirty years
 
  • Anne was from the House of Oldenburg, which was founded in 1448, the monarchy of Denmark stayed under their house until 1863, and the monarchy of Norway until 1814.
 
  • Anne’s father, was known for his drunkenness and Infidelity, and restless behaviour. Anne was brought up in a more stable environment of her grandparents’ home. Anne mother Queen Sophia, nursed her children herself, and was close to them.
 
  • During Anne and King James return from Norway after their wedding, they experienced terrible storms and had to shelter in Norway for several weeks before continuing. he admiral of the escorting Danish fleet blamed the storm on the wife of a high official in Copenhagen whom he had insulted. Several nobles of the Scottish court were implicated, and witchcraft trials were held in Denmark. This sparked King James obsession in witchcraft and doing all he could to protect against it. James took a personal interest in the North Berwick Witch trial in1590

  • Anne refused to be controlled, after he so-called Gowrie conspiracy of 1600, the young Earl of Gowrie, John Ruthven, and his brother Alexander Ruthven were killed by James' attendants for a supposed assault on the King, Anne’s ladies who were sisters of Ruthven, of whom they were chiefly credited b y her. Anne refused when Five months pregnant to get out of bed, or even eat. Anne warned King James to tread careful into how he treated her, and she was not Ruthven’s. Anne was never gave supporting them to the point it became a breech of security, when Anne smuggled one of the sisters Beatrix Ruthven into Holyrood.King James eventually gave in and he finally decided to grant Beatrix Ruthven a pension of £200.
 
 
  • Anne’s brother the king of Denmark Christian IV, wanted to have good relations with England, he and his sister remained in contact. In 1606 when he visited England, it was noted that allot of alcohol consumption between the two monarchs, James 1st, and Christian occurred, this did not make a good impression, The entertainment a was play of The Queen Sheba was performed however described by the audience as a drunken fiasco, where most of the players simply fell over from the effects of too much wine
