  • JULY Mary she entertained Margaret of Anjou and her son in Lincluden Abbey;
  • Mary’s son James is betrothed to Margaret of Denmark
  • 3RD AUGUST Mary’s husband James II while trying to recover Roxburgh, was killed standing near cannons, known as "The Lion", when it exploded and killed him Mary had the cannon destroyed.
  • JULY Mary entertained Margaret of Anjou and her son in Lincluden Abbey;
  • 10TH AUGUST: The coronation of James III of Scotland. James was crowned by James Kennedy, Bishop of St Andrews at Kelso Abbey
  • Mary becomes regent for her son James III of Scotland, until her death., she appoints, Bishop Kennedy as her chief advisor
  • Roxburgh was recaptured by the Scots in 1460 under Mary as Regent. Part of the Anglo-Scottish Wars
  • Mary has Ravenscraig castle built as a memorial to her husband James II of Scotland, and Mary then lives here until her death

Mary was buried at buried at Trinity College Church, Edinburgh,her coffin was moved to Holyrood Abbey in 1848.

  • Mary of Guelders, was Queen consort of James II of Scotland for eleven years.
 
  • Mary was born into the House of Egmond, which was one of the principal noble families of the County of Holland during the Middle Ages.
 
  • Mary was a great-niece of Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy. Through her mother Catherine of Cleves line
 
  • Mary for a time, was at her uncle’s Philip the Good’s court at Burgundian, she attended on her cousin Charles the Bold’s wife Catherine of France.
 
  • Isabelle Mary of Guelders  aunt, through marriage, helped arrange the Mary’s marriage to James II of Scotland. The Duke, Philip the Good,  Isabelle's husband ,gave a settled a dowry of 60,000 crowns.
 
  • Mary’s husband James II of Scotland, nickname, was  Fiery Face,which  referred to a conspicuous vermilion birthmark on his face which appears to have been deemed by contemporaries an outward sign of a fiery temper
 
  • Mary’s marriage appeared to be a happy one with James II of Scotland. Mary and James had seven children.fter the death of her husband the King,Mary, reportedly, had several affairs during her period as regent, notably one with the Lord Hailes.
 
 
  • During the Wars of the Roses, King James II  placed his weight behind the Lancastrians, which was his mother, Joan Beaufort's family, hoping for some personal gain. After King James II death,  Mary’s eldest daughter Mary Stewart was briefly engaged to Edward of Westminster The son of Margaret of Anjou. Margaret of Anjou had fled to Scotland looking for Allies and had taken refuge with Mary. In return for her support, Mary asked for the town of Berwick on the Anglo-Scottish border, which Margaret was willing to give up. Relations between the two women deteriorated, however, Duke Philip, pressured Mary to call off the betrothal of her daughter and Prince Edward. His was to Margaret's disappointment. The engagement was eventually called off by Mary due to political pressure from Edward IV of England.
 
  • Some have said That Marys son, James III of Scotland, was the first renaissance monarch in Scotland
